We define Sustainability as the management of environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities by our portfolio companies in order to contribute to the sustainable long-term development of those businesses.

On behalf of our investor clients, MIRA invests in the real world, managing investments in vital businesses that support communities and are used by more than 100 million people every day. We take our responsibilities as custodian of these businesses very seriously, just as our investors expect. ESG considerations are embedded within our investment decision-making approach and the asset management frameworks through which we encourage our portfolio companies to assess and improve performance.

MIRA is a division of Macquarie Group’s asset management business, Macquarie Asset Management (MAM), which is a signatory to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

MAM’s 2018 Transparency Report has been made publicly available online and can be reviewed here. The Direct - Infrastructure module relates wholly to MIRA’s infrastructure business. MIRA’s other businesses are incorporated into the overarching Organisational Overview and Strategy and Governance modules, which relate to MAM as a whole.

MIRA’s ESG framework is aligned with the broader Macquarie Group approach, which is set out on the Macquarie Group website.
